IPTV on Android TV & Google TV: Players and Setup

IPTV on Android TV and Google TV: why it suits IPTV players, example apps, setup steps, and what is known about IPTV4K.CA on these devices.

Published · Updated · Last checked

Short answer: Android TV and Google TV are among the most flexible platforms for IPTV players, because they use Google Play and run many Android apps. Availability still varies by device, region and app. IPTV4K.CA lists Android TV as supported; we have not tested it on Android TV or Google TV.

How IPTV works on Android TV & Google TV

Android TV is built into many smart TVs and set-top boxes, and Google TV is the newer interface on the same Android base. Apps normally come from Google Play, so many IPTV players, including TiviMate, are offered wherever Google Play is available. Some budget boxes and older TVs have limited memory or an older Android version, which can limit which apps run well.

Example IPTV players for Android TV & Google TV

These are examples of the kinds of apps people use, not recommendations or endorsements, and IPTV Review has no connection with any of them. Names, availability and features change, so check the official store listing for your exact device and region before installing. Most IPTV players contain no channels of their own: they only play what your provider supplies.

  • TiviMate: An IPTV player built for Android TV, including Google TV devices.
  • IPTV Smarters Pro: A player app named on IPTV4K.CA’s trial page. Check its Google Play listing for your device.
  • VLC for Android: A general-purpose player that can open a playlist link or network stream. It offers little in the way of a programme guide.
  • Kodi with the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on: A media centre that can load an M3U playlist and a guide file, with more setup.

What you need

  • A TV or box running Android TV or Google TV, with Google Play
  • A Google account
  • An IPTV player app
  • Login details from your provider

Setting up IPTV on Android TV & Google TV

  1. Check your model and software version, and that the player you want is offered in the device’s official store.
  2. Install the player from that official store.
  3. Get your login details from your provider. Providers usually supply either an Xtream-style login (server address, username and password) or an M3U playlist link, sometimes with a separate programme-guide address. Check which one yours gives you, because not every player supports every format.
  4. Add the details in the player. Long web addresses are quicker to paste or type on a phone or computer, and some players let you add a playlist from another device.
  5. Wait for the channel list and guide to load, then test several channels, the guide and the sports you follow, at the hours you normally watch.
  6. If you are using a free trial, test everything inside the trial window before you pay.
  • Check that the player appears in Google Play on your own TV, because some TVs show a trimmed catalogue.
  • Use a wired connection if your device has an Ethernet port; it is often steadier than Wi-Fi for live TV.
  • Older or budget devices can struggle with very large channel lists.

IPTV4K.CA on Android TV & Google TV: what we know

  • Does IPTV4K.CA say it supports Android TV? Yes. Android TV is one of the twelve device families on IPTV4K.CA’s homepage (provider claim, checked 6 October 2026).
  • Have we tested it on this device? Not tested. Our only hands-on test (14 October 2026) used a Fire TV Stick and an iPhone app, so nothing here has been verified for this device.
  • Players it names: On its free trial page, IPTV4K.CA names IPTV Smarters and TiviMate as compatible players, “and other supported IPTV apps” (provider claim, checked 6 October 2026).
  • What the provider told our tester: According to our tester, IPTV4K.CA said by chat on 14 October 2026 that its subscription works with any player that accepts Xtream Codes or M3U links, and with MAG devices (a provider statement; we hold no copy of it yet and have not verified it).
  • What this means for you: TiviMate, which IPTV4K.CA names, is built for Android TV, so it is a natural fit where Google Play is available. We have not tested it on an Android TV or Google TV device.

That is narrower than “every player”: a player has to support one of those formats, and not every app does on every device. We cannot verify the provider’s statement, so ask which player it recommends for your exact device, and use the 24-hour free trial to test it before paying. What to check before choosing a provider

  • Whether your device includes Google Play, and which Android version it runs
  • How much free storage and memory an older box has
  • Whether the provider names your exact device, and which player and playlist format it expects
  • Whether it offers a free trial, so you can test on your own setup before paying
  • The refund and cancellation terms, in writing
